A modern beach city with its own story
Agadir was largely rebuilt after a major earthquake in 1960. That history is why it feels more modern than most Moroccan cities. Wide boulevards, a marina, and a long seafront promenade define the center today.
The ruins of Kasbah Agadir Oufella still stand on the hill above the city. Little remains beyond outer walls, but the view over the bay at sunset is worth the climb.
Souk El Had, one of Morocco’s largest markets, spreads across the city. Thousands of stalls sell everything from spices to leather goods, all in a lively, negotiable atmosphere.
