This morning, we leave the Dades Valley and venture off the beaten path into the rugged landscapes near Bou Tharar, a region known for its red rock canyons, ancient kasbahs, and timeless Berber culture.
Our first stop is a visit to a local nomadic family who lives in the remote mountain terrain. These semi-nomadic families move seasonally with their livestock and live in stone or cave shelters. You’ll be welcomed with Berber hospitality, share a cup of mint tea, and learn about their way of life, which has remained unchanged for generations.
After this unforgettable cultural exchange, we begin a scenic hike through the Bou thrar valley, passing through terraced fields, small villages, and dramatic gorges. The trail offers panoramic views and opportunities to interact with locals tending their land.
Following the hike, we continue our drive to Ouarzazate, where desert meets mountain and ancient meets modern. Known as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” Ouarzazate is home to famous film studios and historic kasbahs.
After breakfast, we begin our day with a visit to the legendary Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate. Often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” this studio has hosted blockbuster films and series like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. A short guided tour gives you a glimpse into Morocco’s cinematic legacy and behind-the-scenes sets.
Next, we head to the iconic Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most picturesque fortified vill
ages. You’ll have time to walk through its narrow alleys, climb to the old granary at the top, and admire panoramic views of the surrounding desert.
In the afternoon, we drive across the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), one of the most breathtaking roads in Morocco. Along the way, we stop for photos and stretch breaks while enjoying the changing landscapes from arid plateaus to lush valleys.
We arrive in vibrant Marrakech by late afternoon or early evening. Settle into your charming riad in the heart of the medina and enjoy the energy of this magical city.
Dive into the colorful atmosphere of Marrakech, beginning at the iconic Koutoubia Mosque. Visit the exquisite Bahia Palace, with its intricate decorations and sprawling gardens, and marvel at the Saadian Tombs.
