Itinerary
Today, your private Fes to Marrakech desert tour will starts from your hotel or riad in Fez driving across the Middle Atlas and cedar forest. Along the way we pass through Ifrane, which is a famous ski resort, then Midelt, famous for minerals and apples. We continue via Ziz valley to reach Erfoud, famous for fossil products, and then to Rissani. Next, once we arrive in the Erg Chebbi desert where we meet our camel man. We prepare for a camel ride across the Merzouga sand dunes during sunset and enjoy some local music around fire and sleeping in Sahara desert camp. Overnight in desert camp in Merzouga.
On the second day of your 4 Day Morocco tour, you’ll leave Merzouga and travel to Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossil-filled landscapes and bustling market. From Erfoud, continue your adventure towards the stunning Todra Gorges, where towering limestone cliffs create a breathtaking backdrop. After exploring the gorges, you’ll head to the picturesque Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night in a charming, intimate guesthouse, surrounded by the valley’s distinctive rock formations and lush greenery.
The third day of your adventure, you’ll depart from the serene Dades Valley and head towards Kelaat M’Gouna, famed for its vibrant Rose Festival and the fragrant rose fields that surround it. After a pleasant stop in this charming town, continue your journey to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Here, you’ll explore the iconic kasbahs and enjoy the captivating blend of natural beauty and cinematic history that defines this unique city.
Today is a special day, after breakfast you start the day with a pick up by your driver/guide from your hotel or riad. We leave for Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which is located about 30 kilometres from Ouarzazate. The kasbah is listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage site and is a well-preserved fortified city, made up of kasbahs and ksars with a great earthen clay architecture. It is subject to many Moroccan postcards and numerous famous films have been shot here, such as «Jesus of Nazareth», «Gladiator» and «Alexander».
We continue into the High Atlas mountains, along the former route of the caravans until we arrive at Kasbah Telouet. This kasbah lies at an elevation of 1,800 metres and was the seat of the El Glaoui family’s power. It was built in 1800’s, but after Morocco’s independence in 1953, the Glaoui family was evicted and the kasbah was left to ruin. The palace is becoming more damaged, but in 2010 work was started to restore the property. Inside it has some stunning mosaics and intricate wood carvings similar to the Bahia Palace in Marrakech, with an incredible attention to details. From the roof terrace there is an amazing view of the mountains and the valley below. You enjoy a lunch in one of Tizi n’tishka local restaurants before reach Marrakech in the late evening.
