The awesome Ait Bougmez valley called «Happy Valley». Located in the heart of the high central Atlas, enjoys a huge plateau at 2000 meters of altitude. Watered from all sides with high peaks such as Mgoun (4068 m), Azourki (3682 m), and Rat (3800 m). It’s a very cultivated valley: vegetables and apple trees. The Ait Bougmez valley offers a variety of fabulous scenery and a Berber culture jealously preserved by its inhabitants, while being open to the sights of visitors with a warm welcome.
We offer you an active stay in this beautiful Atlas valley. Settled in a traditional house of good comfort, we will go every day to discover the beauties of this region and to meet its population with legendary hospitality. Itinerary
From timeless golden dunes to vibrant, bustling bazaars and the age-old remains of civilizations past, explore some of Morocco’s most fascinating sights. Discover the fresh cedar forests of the Atlas Mountains, meander the winding lanes of old Marrakech, and ride into the desert on a 4×4. Meet musicians, artisans, and nomads as you soak up the mystique of this captivating North African nation.
The departure around 8am from Marrakech to Demnate, with a break in the small village of Imin-ifri, a small walk in this amazing natural site (the natural bridge). See traces of Dinosaurs after the village Tizi noubadou. Continue by a mountainous road to the red valley of Ait Boulli. Arrival at our cottage in Ait Boulli. In the afternoon, we will then have time to discover the village and make contact with the daily life of the Berbers. 5H of road. Overnight at a Berber guest house.
A nice 3.5 hour walk to the Tafenfant plateau. Meet nomads with their herds of goats and sheeps. Lunch will be prepared by our cooker in the countryside. After two hours of walking by a path that goes down to the beautiful valley of Arouss. 6h of walking (a sportif day and maybe it’s the longest one).
After breakfast in Arouss, we head to the small berber village of Agouti, located at 700 m of altitude at the foot of the mgoun. Then Idoukalen at the collective attic of Sidi Chita. We cross the fields of (wheat corn, apple trees, poplars, walnut. Slowly…). We will take the time to observe the daily work of villagers in the fields and small grain mills. Dinner and overnight in the Ait Imi village. 4h30 walk.
After breakfast, we head to the village Ibaquallioune with its former attic in the heart of the village and its prehistoric remains make a very important stop. Then a climb of 400 meters of Adazen mountain. Lunch will be served as a picnic in nature. After an hour of walk, we will arrive at our cottage in the village Ait Ouchi, located at an altitude of 2,000 metres, the village Ait Ouchi is one of the villages of Ait Bougmez valley. Dinner and overnight in Ait Ouchi.
This walk will allow us to discover the daily life of Ait Bougmez valley and to admire sumptuous landscapes. We walk along the valley to reach Iskatafene and the beautiful village of Ikhf N’ighir. We will have a small climb towards the collective attic and the marabout of Sidi moussa (a venerated saint, famous for the care of spiritual diseases). The building at the same time is a collective attic It is a fortified building that used to store and/or preserve harvests, jewellery and valuable documents). Magnificent view on three directions of Ait Bougmez valley known as the happy valley.
We leave the happy valley by resuming the road to Azilal then Marrakech. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant on our way back to Marrakech. Free afternoon to get old medina’s souks.
