Quick Answer

This two weeks in Morocco itinerary runs 14 days and 13 nights, starting and ending in Casablanca. Ismail and Mustapha organize it, and their team of local driver-guides leads it. Transport switches between a private Mercedes Vito on the highways and a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser for the High Atlas passes and the desert tracks near Merzouga. The route covers four imperial cities, the blue town of Chefchaouen, a night in the Erg Chebbi dunes, the Todra Gorge, Ait Ben Haddou, and a coastal finish in Essaouira. It suits travelers who want the fullest possible Morocco 14 day itinerary, not just one region of the country.

Four imperial cities. Rabat, Meknes, Fes, and Marrakech — each a former capital of Morocco.

A real Sahara camp. A camel trek into Erg Chebbi, a Berber tent, and sunrise over the dunes.

Two vehicles, matched to the road. A Mercedes Vito for the highways, a Toyota Land Cruiser for the mountains and desert.

An Atlantic finish. Essaouira's fishing port and ramparts close the loop before Casablanca.

Day By Day

The route from Casablanca to the Sahara and back

Fourteen days, one continuous route — imperial cities, blue mountains, the Sahara, and the Atlantic coast.

Day
01

Arrival In Casablanca

We meet you at the airport, port, or hotel. First stop is the Hassan II Mosque, built on a promontory over the Atlantic.

After lunch on your own, we walk the Corniche before checking into your hotel for the night.

Day
02

Casablanca → Rabat → Asilah

We drive the coast road to Rabat, Morocco's capital. Highlights include the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas.

In the afternoon we continue north to Asilah, a quiet seaside town known for its whitewashed art murals.

Day
03

Asilah → Tangier → The Rif Mountains → Chefchaouen

From Asilah we follow the coast to Tangier, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic at the Strait of Gibraltar. We visit the Caves of Hercules and Cape Spartel.

We then drive inland through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, with stops for panoramic views along the way.

Day
04

Sightseeing Chefchaouen, The Blue City

A full day in Chefchaouen's blue-and-white medina. Lonely Planet calls it "one of the most photographed towns in Morocco".

A short hike to the Spanish Mosque gives you the view that made it famous. Afternoon free to wander the alleyways at your own pace.

Day
05

Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Meknes → Fes

We drive to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, which "contains essentially Roman vestiges of a fortified municipium" at the foot of Jebel Zerhoun.

From there we continue to Meknes, another imperial city, before arriving in Fes for the night.

Day
06

Guided Tour Of Fes

A full day exploring Fes el-Bali with a local guide — the Blue Gate, the Bou Inania Medersa, the Chouara tanneries, and the Al-Qarawiyyin university, founded in 859 CE. Fes el-Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site National Geographic calls "a living, earthy (yet car-free) town".

We finish with a panoramic viewpoint over the whole medina from an old fortress.

Day
07

Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forest → Midelt → Merzouga

South through Ifrane, sometimes called "the Switzerland of Morocco," then into the cedar forest where wild Barbary macaques live. Lunch in Midelt precedes the crossing of the Ziz Valley.

In the late afternoon you switch to camels for the ride into Erg Chebbi, reaching a luxury desert camp in time for sunset, dinner, and Berber drum music under the stars.

Day
08

Merzouga → Nomad Families → Khamlia → Palm Groves

Sunrise over the dunes, then camels back to Merzouga. We visit an old kohl mine, a nomad family tent for Berber tea, and Khamlia village for Gnaoua music.

We stop at Merzouga's flamingo lake before dinner and an overnight stay in town.

Day
09

Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

We visit Rissani's souk, one of the region's oldest trading markets, then a fossil workshop in Erfoud before reaching the Todra Gorge, a red canyon popular with rock climbers.

In the afternoon we continue to the Dades Valley, stopping at the "monkey fingers" rock formations along the way.

Day
10

Dades Valley → Rose Valley → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

We drive through the Rose Valley near Kelaat M'Gouna, then the palm groves of Skoura before Ouarzazate's film studios. Next is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site UNESCO calls "a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco".

We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass to reach Marrakech.

Day
11

Guided Tour Of Marrakech

A local guide leads you through the highlights of Marrakech: the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef mosque, and the largest traditional souk in Morocco.

After lunch near Jemaa el-Fna, we visit the Koutoubia Mosque and the Majorelle Garden, with the evening free to explore the square on your own.

Day
12

Marrakech → Essaouira

We drive west through argan groves — look for the tree-climbing goats — to Essaouira, the walled port city formerly known as Mogador.

We walk the fishing harbor, the cannon-lined ramparts, and the old medina before settling into your hotel for the night.

Day
13

Essaouira → Casablanca

A relaxed final drive back along the Atlantic coast to Casablanca, with free time before your driver takes you into the city for one last evening.

Day
14

Departure From Casablanca

A final breakfast, then transfer to Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport for your departure flight. Fourteen days, four imperial cities, one Sahara sunrise — and, we hope, a reason to plan your next trip to Morocco already.

This Morocco 14 day itinerary crosses highways, mountain passes, and desert tracks. Two vehicles handle all three, so the road never slows you down.

Mountains & Desert

Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4

Once the road climbs the Tizi-n-Tichka pass or turns to piste near Merzouga, we switch to a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser, built for the terrain.

Your Guide

An English-Speaking Guide

Your driver-guide stays with you throughout the fourteen days, offering history and context most visitors would miss on their own.

Your Pace

A Private, Flexible Pace

Since the trip is private, stops, meals, and photo detours are never fixed in advance — they follow what you actually want to see.

Why This Route

The whole country, without doubling back

Most Morocco itineraries pick a region — the imperial cities, or the desert, or the coast — and stay there. This route joins all three into one private trip, so a single set of dates covers what would otherwise take two or three separate visits.

It also avoids the most common complaint about long Morocco tours: too many one-night stops. Chefchaouen, Fes, and Marrakech each get a full guided day, and the Sahara leg includes a genuine camel trek and camp, not a drive-by photo stop. For travelers weighing a shorter option, a desert-and-coast trip is also available.
