Eleven days, Casablanca to Marrakech

Casablanca → Rabat
We meet you at your hotel in Casablanca and drive to Rabat, Morocco's capital. We visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan Tower, its four faces each carved with different decoration, before an overnight stay in Rabat.
Rabat → Chefchaouen
We drive north into the green Rif Mountains, arriving in Chefchaouen, one of Morocco's most picturesque towns, with the evening free to settle into your cottage stay.
Chefchaouen Sightseeing
A full day in the "Blue City." We wander the kasbah and the narrow, blue-washed streets, browse the souks for handcrafted textiles and ceramics, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local restaurant.
As the day winds down, find a quiet spot to watch the sunset paint the sky over Chefchaouen's rooftops.
Chefchaouen → Fez
We drive through the Rif Mountains via the Ouezzane region, stopping for a farm-to-table lunch at a local restaurant, before arriving in Fez to overnight in a charming boutique riad.
Fez Sightseeing
We begin at Bab Boujloud, the ornate blue-and-green city gate, then the Royal Palace gate and the Fez ramparts for a panoramic view over the medina. We visit a working pottery and mosaic workshop before lunch.
In the afternoon we tour the Chouara tanneries and the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque and university, founded in the 9th century, along with the Bou Inania Medersa.
Fez → Ifrane → Merzouga
We cross the Middle Atlas and cedar forest through Ifrane, a well-known ski resort, and Midelt, then follow the Ziz Valley to Erfoud and Rissani.
In Merzouga, a camel ride carries you into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset, with local music by the fire and a night in a Sahara desert camp.
Merzouga, Nomad Families
An early wake-up for sunrise over the dunes, then camels back to the departure point. We tour the sites around Erg Chebbi — Lake Sirji, Khamlia village for Gnawa music, the Mifis mineral mines — and visit a nomad family.
We finish at Rissani's market, the largest souk in the region, before a second night at a luxury desert camp.
