Day by Day
Fourteen days, one continuous route — from Marrakech's medina to the Anti-Atlas peaks, the Sahara's edge, and the Atlantic shore.
Arrival in Marrakech
Your driver meets you at Marrakech Menara Airport and transfers you to your riad in the medina. The rest of the day is yours — wander the alleys, or simply rest before a welcome dinner with live music.
Guided Day in Marrakech
A private guide leads you through the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace, then into the souks around Jemaa el-Fnaa. As dusk falls, the square fills with food stalls, musicians and storytellers.
Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Agdz
Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to Ait Ben Haddou, then on to Ouarzazate and the palm-lined Draa Valley, overnighting in Agdz.
Agdz → Zagora → Tamegroute → Erg Chigaga
Continue through Zagora, once the last major caravan stop before Timbuktu, to Tamegroute's green pottery kilns and centuries-old Koranic library. From here it's off-road into the Erg Chigaga dunes, arriving by camel at dusk for a Berber dinner under the stars.
Erg Chigaga Desert Day
Watch sunrise over the dunes, then take a 4WD excursion across plateaus and rocky outcrops to a shaded oasis for lunch. A second camel trek at sunset is followed by music and storytelling around the camp fire.
Erg Chigaga → Lake Iriki → Tissint → Tata
Cross the dry salt flat of Lake Iriki, then follow the road toward Foum Zguid past the seasonal waterfalls and rocky canyon at Tissint. Overnight in the caravan town of Tata, on the southern edge of the Anti-Atlas geology.
Tata → Aït Mansour Valley → Tafraoute
The road climbs into rocky terrain toward the Messalite Caves, then descends into the Aït Mansour Valley, a palm-filled gorge where you'll stop for a picnic beneath the cliffs. Continuing on, the road passes Jean Vérame's blue Painted Rocks near Aguerd Oudad — painted in 1984 with eighteen tonnes of paint and the help of the local fire brigade. The day ends in Tafraoute, the pink-granite capital of the Anti-Atlas.
Tafraoute & the Ameln Valley
A full day around Tafraoute: the granite outcrop known as Napoleon's Hat, the Ameln Valley's almond orchards, and a walk through a traditional Tazeka village home. Hikers can add a half-day climb toward Jbel El Kest, the Anti-Atlas's highest peak at 2,359m, for panoramic views over the valley.
Tafraoute → Amtoudi → Guelmim → Sidi Ifni
Head south to Amtoudi, where two fortified granaries stand guard above a palm oasis — researchers studying the site describe Agadir Id Aissa as a monument that has been declared World Cultural Heritage. From there, continue via Guelmim, the historic "Gateway to the Sahara," to the coast at Sidi Ifni.

Explore Sidi Ifni's pastel Spanish Art Deco streets before a short drive to Legzira Beach, known for its red rock arch on the Atlantic. One of its original twin arches collapsed in 2016, an event reported at the time by The Guardian; the remaining arch still frames the shoreline today. Overnight in the quiet surf town of Mirleft.
Mirleft → Tiznit → Inoumar Granary → Taroudant
Browse Tiznit's silver jewelry souks, then visit the Inoumar Granary, another well-preserved igoudar reflecting the region's agricultural history. The day ends in Taroudant, nicknamed "Little Marrakech" for its red ramparts and lively souks.
